BROOKE :: MOTHERHOOD

indianapolis family photographer posts about SIDS awarenessWhat was it like to find out your were pregnant? I could not have been happier. Each pregnancy gave me exactly what I needed at just the right time in our lives. I am so thankful that God blessed us with our precious girls.

Describe how it felt the first time you held your children in your arms: The overwhelming and instant amount of love is just indescribable. I knew at that moment, that my girls would forever change my life and make me so happy with the joy and love they would bring me.

How has being a mom changed you as a person? The love for my children has made me love more and appreciate the smallest things in life. I cherish any moment I have with my girls.

What’s the best part about being a mom? EVERYTHING! I love the smiles, kisses, hugs, chit-chats and just how my girls just show me so much love.

What’s the most challenging thing? Fear. We lost our first daughter, Ellie when she was 16 weeks old to SIDS. We have endured so many struggles since we lost her and I never thought I would be able to love again or have the joy that I once had with her, then God blessed us with another little girl, Olivia Faith. Although the hole in my heart will never be completely whole, Olivia has brought us so much joy and love and makes us smile again. We know Ellie would want us to smile and tell her little sister all about her. I have overcome many hurdles of fear with Olivia, but I am always fearful that I won't be able to keep her too. But I continue to have faith that I will in knowing that she will always have the best big sister to always watch over her.

What do you most wish you could hold onto forever about your girls being little? Their sweet little gestures and features. I love when Olivia likes to share the sweetest of things with me (like her paci) and just get so excited about it.

If you could give a word of advice or encouragement to other moms, what would it be? Never stop loving your children. Live everyday to the fullest and never take any moment for granted. Tell your children you love them at every moment that you can and be involved in any way you can too.

Anything else? I am so thankful to be able to share my story as a mom with you all.
