"do we have to reschedule if my baby has jaundice?"
Jaundice will not necessarily cause you to need to reschedule your newborn session.
Newborns commonly develop jaundice after they are born. Jaundice is a condition where the liver does not filter out bilirubin as fast as needed. Since the newborn liver is immature, it can't always keep up with the demand. This results in the skin and whites of the eyes turning a yellow color. It can be mild to sever. Some mild cases will clear up with time on their own, other moderate to sever cases will need treatment with with phototherapy, either at home, or in the hospital. The light will change the bilirubin into lumirubin, which is easier for the newborn's body to handle. You doctor will advise you on what to do if your baby develops jaundice.
If your newborn has some yellowing in the skin and eyes at the time of your newborn session, this can be toned down in the images through retouching.
There is no need to reschedule for most cases of jaundice.
However, if your newborn needs to be under a phototherapy lamp, it may not be ok to remove him or her for the length of the newborn session. Check with your doctor if baby can safely be out for 4 to 5 hours (including time of the session, and time preparing for and driving to/from the session). If not, it's no problwm to reschedule your newborn session.
Or, if your prefer to wait until after jaundice has improved, you can also request the session be moved back.
